Dr. Maroon Featured Speaker at Martins Ferry Ohio Fundraiser

March 18, 2024  Neurosurgeon, Wellness Expert and Author, Dr. Joseph Maroon, is the featured speaker at the upcoming March 18, 2024, Martins Ferry, OH, Chamber of Commerce annual charity dinner. Dr. Maroon grow up in the Bridgeport, OH, a sister town to Martins Ferry.  Many of Dr. Maroon’s friends and family still live in the area.  Dr. Maroon frequently speaks to his roots in the communities of the Upper Ohio Valley area. The Dinner is being cater by Abbey’s Restaurant. Dr. Maroon’s relatives, Abbey Maroon and his son Joey Maroon, own Abbey’s and will certainly make this a special event.

In June 2021, Dr. Maroon was featured in an article by The Intelligencer/ Wheeling News-Register , which covered the memorial service for baseball hall of famer Phil Niekro, another Upper Ohio Valley former resident.  Niekro passed away at the age of 81 on Dec. 26, 2020 of a rare type of cancer. Niekro had played 24 seasons in the MLB as a pitcher and was famous for his “unhittable” knuckleball pitch.  Dr. Maroon, along with Niekro and baseball great, John Havlicek, all grew up in the Ohio Valley in Bridgeport, OH.  They all played on the same championship baseball team that went on to win the state American Legion championship title in 1957.
