Dr. Joseph Maroon Keynote Speaker at the The Pain Society of the Carolinas

Oct 2, 2026 Dr. Joseph Maroon was the featured Keynote Speaker for the “The Pain Society of the Carolinas” annual meeting and scientific session, in Greenville, South Carolina. The Society is an association of physicians and health care practitioners whose mission is to serve people who suffer acute and chronic pain. It is formed of professionals from North Carolina, South Carolina, and neighboring states to explore the latest techniques, treatments, and research in pain management. The Society works to advance the art and science of Pain Medicine by promoting and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice through education and research.

In addition, they aid and encouraging the education of medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians, and other health care providers in Pain Management, including obtaining and Publishing Scientific Information in Pain Medicine and Management

Dr. Maroon discussed burnout, the secret to a balanced life, and creativity in the practice of medicine. He also shared his recent creative research with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the cryoimmunotherapy of cancer and the use of MR spectroscopy in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s diseases, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Over 150 participants from the Carolinas were in attendance.
