Dr Joseph Maroon Special Guest Speaker on The First Seven Years Podcast

On September 18, 2026, Dr. Maroon was invited to Los Angeles, California to participate in the groundbreaking podcast series entitled, “The First Seven Years”. It was hosted by the acclaimed New Zealand pediatrician, Dr. Murray Clarke, founder of Child Life Essentials and Dr. Bryce Wylde, a nationally acclaimed functional medicine expert in Toronto, Canada. The focus of the podcast was on the development and “wiring” of a child’s brain from in-utero to 7-10 years of age and how to prevent and treat traumatic brain injuries in youth.

Dr. Maroon explained how 86 billion neurons in the brain are joined through connections and synapses that number over 100 trillion and in a matrix, is the consistency of Jello! These then come together to form brain fiber tracks, networks and hubs which determine how we feel, think, move, behave and learn. The focus was also on genetics, nutrition, gut-health, integrative wellness and natural solutions for childhood challenges all of which influence and determine how the “wiring” or the brain’s connectome, as it is called, is created.

The podcast is designed to empower parents and caregivers with essential knowledge about optimizing childhood development.
