Dr. Joseph Maroon is Speaking at WV Statewide Focus Forward Education Conference April 22, 2025

March 23, 2025  On April 22, 2025, Neurosurgeon, Concussion and Wellness Expert, Dr. Joseph Maroon, will be the keynote speaker at the 2025 WV Statewide Focus Forward Education Conference . Focus Forward WV Education is an annual, free, statewide conference led by the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative (WVPEC) that brings together experts to explore the intersection of health, wellness, economic mobility, and education in West Virginia, with a focus on preparing the state for the future.

Donna Hoylman Peduto, Executive Director of the WV Public Education Cooperative notes, “We are excited to welcome Dr. Joseph Maroon — 84 year-young world-renowned neurosurgeon, Heindl Scholar in Neuroscience, triathlete and Pittsburgh Steelers physician — to Focus Forward as a featured speaker.

In addition to being a Neurosurgeon, Dr. Maroon is also an eight time Ironman triathlon finisher, and has authored numerous books and lectures on Longevity. For the Focus Forward Keynote lecture, Dr. Maroon, entitled “How to Die Young as Late as Possible,” a personal approach to healthy living, longevity, and balance in life.

For the last 39 years, Joe has served as the team neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has managed just about every type of traumatic and vascular brain injury. At 83 years young, mind, body, spirituality and a healthy life balance are his four pillars for longevity and healthspan. Dr. Maroon’s expertise in the field of neurosurgery, combined with his passion for promoting healthy living, has led him to develop this comprehensive approach to longevity and balance.
