High School receives concussion testing software

Riverside Junior/Senior High School receives concussion testing software, By Joanna Klimaski, The Times/ Tribune

Student-athletes at Riverside Junior-Senior High School will have access to potentially life-saving equipment this school year, thanks to a new program that provides the school with post-concussion screening.

PACE, Protecting Athletes through Concussion Education, is an initiative launched by Dick’s Sporting Goods to make Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing, or ImPACT, available to 3,335 school districts nationwide.

I became involved with the Steelers at the request of Coach Chuck Noll over 25 years ago. Several of the players had concussions at the time and because of my interest in the management of head injuries, particularly those related to sports, I was asked to become the team consultant in neurosurgery.
