UPMC’s Joseph C. Maroon, MD, vice chairman of Neurological Surgery, will appear on two upcoming national TV news magazine shows as an expert in sports-related concussion research, specifically pertaining to the National Football League’s new guidelines for concussion management.
Dr. Maroon will be interviewed on “HBO Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” debuting Tuesday, Jan. 19, and on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 7).
Dr. Maroon, the longtime team neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers, serves on the NFL’s Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Committee.
